We are excited to announce the release of a new feature that allows marketers to add Custom Key-Value Parameters as part of Global UTM settings. This enhancement provides greater flexibility for tracking and analysing campaign performance in Google Analytics (GA) and other platforms, making it easier to attribute success to your campaigns.
Key Highlights
- Define Custom Parameters: You can now set up to 5 custom key-value pairs (e.g., adkey=123) alongside existing UTM parameters in the Account Configuration section.
- Supported Formats:
- Key-Value Pair Structure: Each parameter must follow a key-value format.
- Supported Characters: Alphanumeric, special characters (e.g., space, hyphen, underscore, @, &), and Unicode.
- Global Application: Once configured, custom parameters are appended automatically to all campaign links, eliminating the need for manual additions.
Channels Supported
- Email: The custom parameters are appended to links in email campaigns and test messages.
Enhanced Reporting
- Campaign Summary Reports:
- Custom parameters are included in campaign summary reports and exported CSV files.
- Each key becomes a CSV header, and its associated value is included in the corresponding rows.
- You can manually select custom parameters for inclusion in scheduled summary reports via a dropdown.
How It Works
- Navigate to Account Configuration.
- Define up to 5 custom key-value pairs in the new Global Custom Parameters section.
- When enabled, these custom parameters are automatically appended to all campaign links & displayed as default values when GA tracking is enabled in campaign setup.
- Custom parameters are included in test message links, ensuring consistency during testing.
Important Notes
- Report CSV: It will only contain the headers added in the global settings. Any new custom key added on the campaign level will not be available in the report.
- Email A/B campaigns or Split campaigns: We shall add a custom parameter from Netcore’s side - ‘variant=A' or 'variant=B' depending on the variant at the end of the link.
- Editable Campaign Settings: If custom parameters are updated in global settings, any previously created campaigns must be edited to reflect the updated values. Reports will reflect only the latest configuration.
This feature is live and ready to use.
