Policy Recommendations:
- This applies to all senders to Gmail and Yahoo accounts
- Monitor the domain’s spam rate in Google Postmaster Tools
- Look at panel (Smartech or Email API) abuse reports for Yahoo
- Maintain ideal spam rates below 0.1%; strictly avoid 0.3% or higher
Consequences of Exceeding 0.3%
- Increased spam classification
- Drop in sender domain reputation
- Emails delivered to SPAM folder
- Ineligibility for mitigation until spam rates remain below 0.3% for 7 consecutive days
Action Required:
- Send emails only to subscribers who have explicitly opted in
- Periodically suppress inactive subscribers using a sunset policy
